Is it to cold? How do we decide?

With extremely cold temperatures this week, Hemlock Public School District is monitoring weather conditions to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff.

In lower peninsula Michigan, schools typically consider closing when the wind chill temperatures reach -20 degrees Fahrenheit or lower for a sustained two-hour period of time around bus pick-up time. If it becomes necessary to cancel school, we will promptly communicate any closures through our usual channels, including email, text, and phone calls, as well as updates on our social media platforms, district website, and local TV stations.

In the meantime, we encourage families to ensure their children are dressed appropriately for the frigid temperatures that will continue throughout the week. Warm coats, hats, gloves, and layers are essential to staying safe and comfortable during this cold snap.

Stay warm, Huskies!

SPORTS RESULTS

7th Grade Boys Basketball vs John Glenn 2/26

The 7th Grade Boys Basketball teams had their final game of the season last night.  Both teams fell short of a win but hustled hard and played well.

For the B team, Bentley Marker had 2 points and Dylan Mundell had 1. Final Score of Christa McAuliffe 43, Huskies 3.

The A team was glad Tatum Schmidt was there to score his 13 points with 6 rebounds. Wyatt Wenzel had 3 points. Klay Smith had 3 points also with 4 rebounds and Tommy Holmes helped out with 2 points. Final score of Christa McAuliffe 54, Huskies 21.  Great Season, Boys!

8th Grade Boys Basketball vs John Glenn 2/26

It was a close season ender for the Hemlock 8th grade B team as another one of their games came down to the wire. The bobcats and the huskies battled back and forth in the first half but Hemlock was down one at halftime.  In the third, the Huskies came out hot, converting several shots to get a slight lead.  Dylan Roka led the team in scoring with 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 steals. Hayden Massa also added 10 and several great assists to his teammates. Bram Reidsma also helped out with 7 points and 7 boards and Camden Peters with 5 points and 7 boards. Kaiden Knapick was a menace on the defensive end with a season high 6 steals. Unfortunately the Huskies could not close it out, Huskies 36, Wildcats 41.

The Huskie A team also took on Christa McAuliffe Middle school yesterday. They also had a tough season ender against the talented Bobcat team. Cal McFadden led the team in scoring with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Mason Miller and Parker Coston added 6 and 5 points to the Huskie total. Bo Galbraith and Paxton O’Dell both contributed 3 points as well. Hemlock 32- Christa McAuliffe a lot more than 32.

Thank you to all the support shown this season from the fans. There will be a Blue-White game at 4:00 Thursday as a season ender.
