SUBJECT: We need your help! Register today!

American Heart Challenge is here! Our students are learning how to keep their hearts and brains healthy and raising funds to help kids with special hearts, kids like Finn.

We're asking all families to register and complete Finn's mission to learn Hands-Only CPR. All students who register will receive a free wristband. And, when students complete Finn’s Mission they are entered for a chance to win TWO TICKETS to the 2026 SUPER BOWL!  Five people will win this year! If 18 students complete Finn's mission, our school can be entered into a drawing to win a $10,000 school fitness make-over

  1. Register: Click here or download the AHA Schools app.

  2. Complete Finn’s Mission: to learn Hands-Only CPR, the warning signs of stroke and impact of tobacco and vaping. Share with family and friends through social media, text and/or email so they too can learn how to save a life.

Thank you for supporting our school and students in saving lives!

Is it to cold? How do we decide?

With extremely cold temperatures this week, Hemlock Public School District is monitoring weather conditions to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff.

In lower peninsula Michigan, schools typically consider closing when the wind chill temperatures reach -20 degrees Fahrenheit or lower for a sustained two-hour period of time around bus pick-up time. If it becomes necessary to cancel school, we will promptly communicate any closures through our usual channels, including email, text, and phone calls, as well as updates on our social media platforms, district website, and local TV stations.

In the meantime, we encourage families to ensure their children are dressed appropriately for the frigid temperatures that will continue throughout the week. Warm coats, hats, gloves, and layers are essential to staying safe and comfortable during this cold snap.

Stay warm, Huskies!

A Team - Thatcher Hodges and Wyatt Wenzel both hustled hard and played great, leading the team with 8 points a piece. Brad Kowalski had 7 points while Tommy Holmes had 6 points with  6 rebounds.  Tatum Schmidt had 5 points and Klay Smith followed him with 4.  Final score of 38-49.

8th Grade Boys Basketball vs Frankenmuth 2/18

In a rescheduled matchup the Hemlock Huskies played the Frankenmuth Eagles. The Huskies came out flat against the quick footed Frankenmuth squad. The second half was a little smoother for Hemlock with Parker Coston leading the way in scoring with 13 on the night. Bo Galbraith also gave 9 hard fought buckets to add to the total. In the second half the Huskies caused 18 forced turnovers on Frankenmuth but the deficit was already too great, Hemlock 28 to Frankenmuth’s 54.

Shoutout to Camden Peters and Lane Philips-Straight for helping to keep the gym clean and helping clean up after the game.

7th Grade Boys Basketball vs Swan Valley 2/19

7th Grade Huskies traveled to Swan Valley last night.  Bentley Marker led the B team with 4 points while Grey Hendrickson was right behind him with 3 points, 5 rebounds . Dylan Mundell had 2 points. The final score was Vikings 53, Huskies 9.

The A team hustled hard but could not keep up with the Vikings.  Klay Smith was the lead scorer of the game with 10 points. Tommy Holmes had 6 points with 5 rebounds.   Thatcher Hodges had a great game, always giving 110% and came in with 4 points and 6 rebounds.   Wyatt Wenzel helped out with 3 points and great defense as always and Brad Kowalski chipped in 2 points. The final score was Vikings 48, Huskies 25.

8th Grade Boys Basketball vs Swan Valley 2/19

Hemlock hosted Swan Valley in the first of two games yesterday. The 8th grade B team came out like a defensive wall in the first half leading 11-10 going into the break. Unfortunately the defense did not withstand the second half. Leading the way for the Huskies was Dylan Roka with 10 points and 8 rebounds and Hayden Massa with  6 points. The Huskies were not able to close out the game, 23-47.

In the second of the two games the Hemlock A team also played Swan Valley. Swan Valley’s shooting, forced several adjustments to Hemlock’s defensive strategy. Parker Coston had another standout game with 13 points and 4 assists. Bo Galbraith and Cal McFadden also added in 10 points a piece. Hemlock could not complete the rivalry game losing 41-57.
