Congratulations, Mr. Sysak!

Health Class

The Freshman are at it again! Take a peak at what they have been up to!

Freshman Health Class

BST Class

Real-life lessons in action. Mrs. Lockwood’s BST class has been diving into a family financial project where students budget for a full month of living expenses.

Whether flying solo, living with roommates, or managing a household as a married couple, students are learning just how quickly money can come and go - and what it really takes to balance a budget - complete with a wedding.

Fun fact: that pink paper wedding bell hanging from the ceiling is from Mr. and Mrs. Lockwood's wedding 35 years ago.

Student of the Month

Congratulations to Justin Keyes, our Student of the Month at Hemlock High School .

Justin, a sophomore, stands out not only for his positive attitude and work ethic, but also for his passion and drive toward his future career goals. With dreams of becoming a voice actor, announcer, or DJ, Justin has already begun paving his path—right here at Hemlock.

Recognizing Justin’s unique ambition and talent, Principal Keith Green offered him the opportunity to take over the school’s daily announcements each morning and afternoon. Justin accepted the challenge without hesitation, and since then, the Hemlock halls have echoed with energy, creativity, and a touch of flair each day thanks to his variety of voices and announcing styles.

“This is more than just an announcement—it’s practice for a dream,” says Justin. “It gives me the chance to get comfortable behind the mic, try out different tones and characters, and connect with the school in a way that’s meaningful to me.”

Justin’s enthusiasm is contagious, and his dedication to his craft is inspiring. Whether he’s bringing a fun twist to the morning greeting or signing off with style at the end of the day, his voice has become a familiar and welcome part of Hemlock High School’s daily rhythm.

Congratulations, Justin Keyes—keep bringing your voice to the world!

Mr. Krueger

We all know that feeling when you walk into a place where you're truly welcomed. That's the feeling our teachers are creating every day. By being intentional with their words – saying "I'm glad you're here" and "Your presence matters" – they're building a culture of belonging at Hemlock. And it's making a difference! We want to celebrate High School math teacher and woodworking legend Keith Krueger for being a champion of this approach. We're also encouraging staff to share their success stories and strategies with each other. Because when we work together, the impact is even greater.

Hey, What's for Lunch?

We are thrilled to announce that thanks to the Michigan School Meals Program, EVERY child at Hemlock Public School District, pre-K through 12th grade, will now be able to enjoy a delicious and nutritious breakfast and lunch for FREE!

Not only will this amazing program lighten the load on your wallet (we all know kids can eat their way through a pantry), but it'll save you precious time in the morning.

Now, here's the nitty-gritty: Although the meals are free, we do need all our parents to fill out the new free/reduced lunch application. This data is super important as it helps secure state and federal funding for this fantastic initiative.

Here's to full bellies, vibrant minds, and the #huskietastic school year ahead!
