Student Council Dress Sale

The Hemlock High School Student Council is hosting a Dress Sale on Saturday, February 21, from 10:00 AM–2:00 PM in the High School Commons!
We’re now collecting gently used Homecoming and Prom dresses, shoes, and purses through the Friday prior to the event. 👗 Community members may drop items off at the high school front office, and current students can bring items to Room 13 to Mrs. Provoast or Mrs. Bell.
Items should be on a hanger and include the seller’s name, phone number, and asking price. Sellers set their own prices, and Student Council will retain 20% of each sale to support student activities—helping students earn money toward future formalwear while making room in their closets.
With Prom on April 11, this is a great opportunity to shop affordably or pass along dresses to another Huskie. Graduates and community members are encouraged to participate.
• Parking: Little Elementary lot
• Entrance: South side of the high school near the bus drop-off

2/12 Freshman Boys Basketball

The Hemlock freshmen were looking for revenge after an early season loss at Nouvel. They found it in convincing fashion with a 50-32 win in their final home game of the year. Chase Barrigar had his best game of the season earning player of the game. Chase frusterated the panthers with tenacious defense, while adding 4 rebounds, 3 steals, 4 pts, and an assist. Parker Coston had 4 steals and continued his scoring spree with 13 pts. Ethan Wenzel and Bo Galbraith both scored 7pts and had solid performances defensively. Mason Miller had 6pts, 4 assists,  and 2 steals. Charlie Hyatt did Charlie things again, scoring 6pts to go with, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and an impressive 5 blocks. Paxton Odell managed to not foul out and contributed 4 rebounds, assists,  3 steals, and 3 pts. Dylan Roka had 7 rebounds, 2pts, and a block. Cam Peters grabbed 3 rebounds, 1 steal, and an assist. Jackson Atkinson pitched in 2pts and a beauty of an assist. With this win, the boys improved to 12-4 with two games left to play.

2/12 JV Boys Basketball

The JV Huskies lost a heartbreaker to the Nouvel Panthers by a final score of 60 to 53. Though the final margin of victory was 7 points, this was a 1 point game with less than 2 minutes to play. After a slow start, allowing Nouvel a 21-8 lead in quarter 1, the Huskies flipped this game on its head. They sparked a second half comeback unlike any others this year. Tristyn Church was the catalyst to the comeback and played his career best game, finishing with 27 points and 12 rebounds. Hemlock followed Tristyn’s lead, elevating their effort, and making timely shots to pull them back to a 1 point deficit in the fourth. In the end, Nouvel deserved this one, shooting better than 50 percent from 3 point range, and 80 percent at the free throw line. It was a great game, and Hemlock showed their heart and unwillingness to give in. Tristyn was the leader, but Bentley Baumer added 9 points, Cooper Gensch 8, and Markus Plowden 6 points and 10 rebounds. 1 more game for the JV this year, next week at Michigan Lutheran Seminary.

2/13 JV Girls Basketball

The JV girls defeated Nouvel by a score of 56-18 on Friday. The win improved the huskies record to 10-1 on the season.  Alexis Hagarty led the huskies with 16 points followed by Layne Robinson with 10 points. Coaches Comment

The Huskies jumped out to a 7-0 lead to start the game.  Nouvel fought back eventually taking a 5 point lead into halftime.  The game remained close midway through the 3rd quarter before Nouvel went on an 8-0 run to close the quarter.  Cal McFadden continued to impress on a terrific freshman season with his 5th double double of the season.  Ultimately, too many turnovers and missed lay-ups did the Huskies in against a good Nouvel squad.  The Huskies are back in action for their final game of the regular season for senior night on Friday Feb. 20th.

2/17 Freshman Boys Basketball

The Hemlock freshmen traveled to Carson City and walked out with their 5th win in a row 37-19. Player of the game Cam Peters played smothering defense, grabbed rebounds, scored 3 pts, and dished out 3 assists. Parker Coston led all scorers again with 13 pts to go with 8 steals. Charlie Hyatt added 4pts, 8 rebounds, and 6 steals. Mason Miller had4 pts, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals. Bo Galbraith scored 4pts. Paxton Odell an Jackson Atkinson each scored 3pts. Chase Barrigar held CC's point gaurd scoreless for a quarter and a half. Ethan Wenzel had 1pt, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists. Dylan Roka rounded out the scoring with 2pts and 2 blocks. The Huskies look to wrap up their season against MLS on Thursday.

2/17 JV Girls Basketball

The JV girls defeated H.H. Dow High School in a thrilling 38-30 overtime win on Tuesday night. The huskies dominated the chargers in overtime with a 10 to 2 scoring advantage to seal the victory. Layne Robinson led the huskies with 16 points followed by Alexis Hagarty with 8 points. Kristyn Pratt added 7 points and Marta Castano had 5 points.

Huskie Health

A Note From Nurse Becky

We hope this message finds you well! As we move further into the school year, we want to remind families of the importance of having an up-to-date medication authorization form on file for any student who may need medication during the school day.

If your child requires an EpiPen, inhaler, or any other prescribed or over-the-counter medication while at school, we must have the proper documentation completed and signed by both a parent/guardian and the child’s healthcare provider. This ensures we can safely and promptly assist your student in the event of a medical need.

Please note that medications cannot be given at school without a current medication form on file. This includes carrying or self-administering inhalers, EpiPens, or any other type of emergency medication.

Medication forms are available in the school office or can be downloaded from our district website. If you need assistance completing the form or have any questions about your child’s health plan, please don’t hesitate to contact our school nurse.

Thank you for helping us keep all students safe and healthy at school!
