See Something, Say Something

School safety is a shared responsibility, and the key to maintaining a safe environment lies in our collective vigilance. Whether you're a student, parent, teacher or community member, everyone plays a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of our schools.

Shoutout! For some Awesome Guys!

Thank you!

To the heroes who walk our halls with mop buckets in hand and endless patience in their hearts:

We see you.
We appreciate you.
And honestly — we don't know how you do it.

Day after day, you clean up after hundreds of teenagers (and all our questionable smells, spilled snacks, and mysterious locker funk), and you do it without complaint. You turn chaos into order and messes into miracles.

You are the reason our school stays clean, safe, and welcoming.
You are the reason we can focus, learn, and breathe (mostly) clean air.

So from the bottom of our grateful, slightly stinky hearts!
Mr. Mike, Mr. Greyson, Mr. Damion, Mr. Cody; THANK YOU!

You may not wear capes, but you are absolutely superheroes in our eyes!

#HemlockHelps | Supporting the Bommarito Family
Please consider helping a special Hemlock family. Hemlock High School will serve as a donation drop-off site to support Brandon and Brie Bommarito—both HHS graduates—following a very serious motorcycle accident. While there are hopeful signs, their recovery will be long and uncertain. Both have undergone multiple surgeries and face significant injuries. It may be several months before they can fully care for their daughters again.
In the meantime, their girls will be with their aunt and uncle, Nikki and Brian, who are opening their home and hearts during this difficult time.
If you’d like to help, here are meaningful ways to support:
• Drop off donations at Hemlock High School (front office).
• Gift cards are especially helpful (groceries, gas, meals, Target/Walmart).
• Notes of encouragement and prayers for healing are welcome.
• If you represent a business or civic group and want to coordinate a larger donation, please contact the high school office at 989-642-5287.
Thank you for rallying around Brandon, Brie, and their girls. This is what the Huskie Pack does—show up for each other.

SCC

Juniors Laini Wardin and Ryleigh Bain, Medical Careers students at the Saginaw Career Complex, got creative while exploring how parts of the body function. Using their knowledge of cell organelles, they came up with clever everyday comparisons — like the “Lunch Lady,” representing the endoplasmic reticulum because both package and deliver (in this case, snacks and proteins). We love seeing our Huskies bring learning to life in such imaginative ways.

EMC

Why wait? With Hemlock’s Early Middle College, students can earn college credits before graduation—saving families thousands while gaining a head start. Even with 2 years of free community college, EMC still leads the pack.

Hey, What's for Lunch?

We are thrilled to announce that thanks to the Michigan School Meals Program, EVERY child at Hemlock Public School District, pre-K through 12th grade, will now be able to enjoy a delicious and nutritious breakfast and lunch for FREE!

Not only will this amazing program lighten the load on your wallet (we all know kids can eat their way through a pantry), but it'll save you precious time in the morning.

Now, here's the nitty-gritty: Although the meals are free, we do need all our parents to fill out the new free/reduced lunch application. This data is super important as it helps secure state and federal funding for this fantastic initiative.

Here's to full bellies, vibrant minds, and the #huskietastic school year ahead!

To add funds to your student's account for a la carte items, please use the following link:

Important Meal Information for Families

All students are currently eligible to receive free breakfast and/or lunch each school day. However, if a student chooses to take milk only, it is available for $0.50.

Free Meals Continue at Hemlock Although the State of Michigan has not yet finalized its budget, Hemlock Public Schools remains focused on what matters most, our students. For now, we’ll continue providing free meals to all students while we wait for more clarity on long-term funding from the State. Thank you for standing with us as we put kids first.

Here’s to many more memories on this field and track!

Dallas

Friday Night Lights just got better, meet Dallas!

As we prep lighting for future night track meets, we’re testing a supervised play zone for our elementary & middle school students—an auxiliary game at the game. Because let’s be honest: kids have always treated the pavilion like a NASCAR track, occasionally clipping the dad balancing three Diet Cokes and a nacho… and yes, splashing that puddle next to the brave mom in white pants (in October—bold choice).

Here’s the plan:
Where: Northwest of Wallace Field
Who: Elementary & middle school students
Supervision: Dallas, HHS senior (and all-around good guy)
Gear: Please don’t bring balls—we’ll provide them
Parents: We still encourage you to watch the game with your kids; this is just a helpful option

We’re learning as we go, so thanks for the grace. Brighter bulbs are literally on the way. See you under the lights!

Winter

If you are interested in participating in Winter or Spring sports, you need to sign up in FinalForms as soon as possible.  Coaches are trying to put together rosters, purchase uniforms, and gain an understanding of how many students are interested to see if we will have both Varsity and JV teams.

Player of the week

Friday night’s “Player of the Game,” sponsored by Primetime Painting and Powerwashing was #76 Senior Wyatt Scoles for the second time this season! Wyatt was the voice of leadership on and off the field and he made a bunch of great plays including 4 tackles, 2 TFLs, and 1.5 sacks.

Results

9/27 - Trap Shooting

Last weekend we participated in the Clare Fall Invitational with outstanding results.  Our team score, made up of primarily JV shooters finished as 2nd place team overall with scores Julia Darby – 88, Reed Vosler – 89, Greyson Leitz – 93, Brayden Reimus – 87 and James Darby Jr – 96.  Additionally Sawyer Berger shot on a mixed team and finished with a perfect 100 score helping his team finish 3rd overall. Overall Individual scores – Sawyer Berger – 100 high overall and high varsity, James Darby Jr – 96 high JV and Greyson Leitz – 93 2nd JV, and Reed Vosler – 89 high novice and Julia Darby – 88 high female

Great job everyone!

10/2 - Soccer

We sent our three Seniors (Captain Brennan Meyer, Gabe Messing and Evan Wolgast) out with a win.

Hemlock 4-0 USA

Goals - Charlie Hyatt(2), Landon Wardin, Brennan Meyer

Assists - Mason Lavigne (3)

Keeper Braden Turner with another clean sheet

10/3 - Varsity Football

The Huskies struggled to get anything going against a strong and energetic Nouvel team. A first quarter punt return for a TD snowballed into numerous first quarter turnovers and created a pit we couldn't seem to crawl out of. The Huskie defense showed some flashes, producing some strong defensive stands playing on a short field all night. We were really happy with the play of our Senior Defensive Tackle Wyatt Scoles. He was the voice of leadership on and off the field and he made a bunch of great plays including 4 tackles, 2 TFLs, and 1.5 sacks. The defensive stat leader was Senior Middle Linebacker Steven Katzenberger, tallying 10 tackles and 3 TFLs.

10/6 - Volleyball

The varsity volleyball team improved to 12-8-2 after tonight’s sweep against Standish-Sterling.
Scores of tonight’s match: 25-14, 25-13, 25-19!
Sage LaVigne: 10 kills 5 blocks
Layne Robinson: 5 kills
Ella Thom: 4 kills
Laci Harry: 24 assists
Riley Church: 4 kills 3 blocks
Ava Stroud: 7 digs
Combined team stats: 9 aces, 26 digs, 28 assists, 28 kills, 7 solo blocks, 4 assisted blocks

10/7 - Cross Country

TVC # 3 at Freeland

Our Varsity XC teams competed at their last TVC league meet.  This is the final meet that establish their standings and potential league honors.  It was finally a great day for a XC race. Temps dropped and we went out for it! It’s championship season and we are winding down the season!

Very proud of everyone, Attitude is Everything! Next for the team is Home at Hemlock for the Bill Agresta Invite on 10/11 at 9:00am!
