Count Day

Attendance matters every day, but today is extra important—it’s Count Day! Being present in school not only helps our Huskies learn and grow, but also supports our entire school community. Each student counted today helps ensure we have the resources, programs, and opportunities to continue bringing the magic to our classrooms.

What an incredible chance to see, learn, and be inspired outside the classroom!

Student of the Month

Student of the month

Congratulations to Hemlock High School’s Student of the Month, senior Katie Fuller.
Katie is known for being a true friend to her peers and for consistently choosing the right path, even when it’s not the easiest. She shows respect to both her teachers and classmates, and her character shines through in every setting. Not only is she an exemplary student, but she is also a wonderful friend.
Please join us in celebrating Katie and all she contributes to our school community!

#HemlockHelps | Supporting the Bommarito Family

Please consider helping a special Hemlock family. Hemlock High School will serve as a donation drop-off site to support Brandon and Brie Bommarito—both HHS graduates—following a very serious motorcycle accident. While there are hopeful signs, their recovery will be long and uncertain. Both have undergone multiple surgeries and face significant injuries. It may be several months before they can fully care for their daughters again.

In the meantime, their girls will be with their aunt and uncle, Nikki and Brian, who are opening their home and hearts during this difficult time.

If you’d like to help, here are meaningful ways to support:

• Drop off donations at Hemlock High School (front office).
• Gift cards are especially helpful (groceries, gas, meals, Target/Walmart).
• Notes of encouragement and prayers for healing are welcome.
• If you represent a business or civic group and want to coordinate a larger donation, please contact the high school office at 989-642-5287.

Thank you for rallying around Brandon, Brie, and their girls. This is what the Huskie Pack does—show up for each other.

EMC

Why wait? With Hemlock’s Early Middle College, students can earn college credits before graduation—saving families thousands while gaining a head start. Even with 2 years of free community college, EMC still leads the pack.

Hey, What's for Lunch?

We are thrilled to announce that thanks to the Michigan School Meals Program, EVERY child at Hemlock Public School District, pre-K through 12th grade, will now be able to enjoy a delicious and nutritious breakfast and lunch for FREE!

Not only will this amazing program lighten the load on your wallet (we all know kids can eat their way through a pantry), but it'll save you precious time in the morning.

Now, here's the nitty-gritty: Although the meals are free, we do need all our parents to fill out the new free/reduced lunch application. This data is super important as it helps secure state and federal funding for this fantastic initiative.

Here's to full bellies, vibrant minds, and the #huskietastic school year ahead!

To add funds to your student's account for a la carte items, please use the following link:

Important Meal Information for Families

All students are currently eligible to receive free breakfast and/or lunch each school day. However, if a student chooses to take milk only, it is available for $0.50.

Free Meals Continue at Hemlock Although the State of Michigan has not yet finalized its budget, Hemlock Public Schools remains focused on what matters most, our students. For now, we’ll continue providing free meals to all students while we wait for more clarity on long-term funding from the State. Thank you for standing with us as we put kids first.

Dallas

Friday Night Lights just got better, meet Dallas!

As we prep lighting for future night track meets, we’re testing a supervised play zone for our elementary & middle school students—an auxiliary game at the game. Because let’s be honest: kids have always treated the pavilion like a NASCAR track, occasionally clipping the dad balancing three Diet Cokes and a nacho… and yes, splashing that puddle next to the brave mom in white pants (in October—bold choice).

Here’s the plan:
Where: Northwest of Wallace Field
Who: Elementary & middle school students
Supervision: Dallas, HHS senior (and all-around good guy)
Gear: Please don’t bring balls—we’ll provide them
Parents: We still encourage you to watch the game with your kids; this is just a helpful option

We’re learning as we go, so thanks for the grace. Brighter bulbs are literally on the way. See you under the lights!

Winter

If you are interested in participating in Winter or Spring sports, you need to sign up in FinalForms as soon as possible.  Coaches are trying to put together rosters, purchase uniforms, and gain an understanding of how many students are interested to see if we will have both Varsity and JV teams.

Player of the week

Friday night's "Player of the Game," sponsored by Primetime Painting and Powerwashing, was #68 Sophomore Alex Rosenberg! Alex's play at DE took away one of Ithaca's most dangerous plays. On the offensive side, Alex starts every play with the ball in his hands as the Center. He is crucial to our communication up front, and the offensive line had its best pass protection night of the year. It's great to see improvement in our guys especially in some really tough games.

9/26 - Varsity Football

The Huskies came out ready to play Friday night against the Yellow Jackets. The first play of the game was a hard run by sophomore RB Markus Plowden that almost broke free after a nice 20 yd pickup. It fired our guys up, and proved to us that we could play with them. We consistently moved the ball between the 20’s, but drives kept stalling out against Ithaca’s talented defense. We played solid defense, got a couple stops, and the first quarter ended in a 0-0 tie. We went in at half time down 14-0, and felt great about the half we’d put together… we just needed to finish a couple drives and we were in the game. A few of our guys got banged up in the second half and it limited our production. A blocked punt recovered for a TD got the energy really moving in their direction and we struggled to recover.

Leading Tackler was Senior LB Steven Katzenberger. Leading Rusher was Sophomore RB Markus Plowden. Junior QB Gavin Schmidt had his best showing of the year behind a great pass protection effort from the O line.

9/25 - Tennis

Tennis

Hemlock tied for 4th place at TVC.
